Importance of Career Counseling
When I was a student in eighth grade, I hardly know about two professions doctor and teacher. I don’t know about a signal thing about engineering. But when the time arrives to choose a subject either I want to go with computer science or biology though I want to become a doctor I still don’t know that for becoming a doctor in future the selection of subject is the major problem If you select biology then you became a doctor if you select computer science then there is no chance for you to become a doctor. Unfortunately, I don’t about this and nobody here to tell me. but by luck I was going into biology class, not by research or choice. Now a week has been passed while I was taking classes biology. My father came towards me and insist that I change my subject. I am a little bit scared and shocked too because this is the only time when my father told me to do something forcefully. But the very next day my father came towards my teacher and ask him to change my subject from biology to computer. I was like OK No problem. But after that when I go home, I ask my mother to please tell me why baba changes my subject. He starred at me and then said ok I will tell you about this tonight. When I am going to my bed she came and told me that one of my father’s colleague tells him if your son goes with biology then he must be a doctor and fees of medical colleges is too high you are not able to afford them, so change his subject from the start so that he doesn’t see big dreams to become a doctor and when the time arrives you are not able to fulfill them because of money so if he takes subject like computer science, he should get a good job because computer people are in demand nowadays. At that point, I realize O shit for the doctor it's necessary to choose biology. But at that time, I adjust to computer science over time and someone tells me about engineering and I feel it sounds interesting to become an engineer change my mind goal change my mission change time flies, and now I am in the final year of my engineering. I narrate this story of mine that how important career counseling for students and especially in Pakistan where peers are not well educated but they want their child to get higher education.
My idea of megaproject is to provide free career counseling for the student of matric and intermediate. For this purpose, we arrange online sessions twice a month. And In-person session on zoom meetings daily Student can simply text us and set their meetings for an in-person session. We convince the student by a social media campaign that how important it is to take counseling before choosing a subject that defines your career and whole life. In these sessions, our focus is that students can know about their potential and then go for it and became excellent professionals.
